Web design in Exeter

Web design in Exeter, from ten minutes down the road.

I am a web designer based in Cranbrook, ten minutes from Exeter, building fixed-price websites for the city’s trades, practices, shops and cafés.

Exeter is the biggest market in Devon, which also makes it the most crowded one. Search for a roofer, an accountant or a café in the city and you are up against firms with marketing budgets, directories and national chains.

The way through is being specific. A page for each service, the areas you actually cover, from Heavitree and St Thomas to Pinhoe and Alphington, real photographs of your work and reviews near the top. A small site that answers a customer’s question in the first few seconds beats a big one that does not.

Who I build for in Exeter

  1. Trades on the estates

Firms based on Marsh Barton and Sowton who work across the city and the villages around it.

    Marsh Barton · Sowton

  2. Practices and clinics

Clear services, opening hours and an easy way to book or get in touch.

Heavitree · St Thomas · Pinhoe

  3. Independent shops and cafés

Somewhere to show what makes you worth the walk, for locals and for visitors.

City centre · High St and Gandy St · The Quay · Topsham

  4. Firms that have outgrown their site

A redesign that keeps what works and rebuilds the rest to current standards.

    Anywhere in Exeter

I live and work in Cranbrook, on Exeter’s doorstep. Your site names the towns you cover, your Google Business Profile is connected, and the person who built it is ten minutes away.

My main focus area, not a limit. I work with businesses anywhere in the UK.

Three steps. About two weeks.

For a five page site, once I have your photos. No long forms, no account to set up, no meetings in an office.

  1. A small business owner smiling as she types a text message in her shop doorway, a takeaway coffee on the window ledge

    We talk

Fifteen minutes on WhatsApp or a call. You tell me what the business does. I tell you the price and the date it goes live.

  2. A closed laptop on a kitchen table in morning light
    02

    I build it

You send photos and any words you have. I write the rest. You see a working version within seven working days and tell me what to change.

  3. A woman reading her phone on a sunny high street

    It goes live

I register the domain in your name, put the site live on Cloudflare and show you the editor. Six months later I still answer.

My guarantee.

Four promises, so the risk sits with me and not with you.

Love the first version, or your deposit back

You see a working first version within seven working days of sending your photos and notes. If it is not what you hoped for, tell me within seven days of seeing it and I refund your deposit in full within 14 days. The unfinished design is not handed over.

Live on the date I give you, or £100 off

For each week or part week it is late, up to the whole second payment, as long as your photos and words reach me by the date we agree. If your feedback or sign-off takes longer than we agreed, the date moves on by the same number of days.

The price I quote is the price you pay

No extras on the invoice and no VAT on top. Your domain name, about £12 a year in your name, is the only other cost. The second half is only due when you are happy for the site to go live.

Anything wrong in 90 days, fixed free

If something does not work as we agreed in the first 90 days after launch, I put it right at no charge.

Redesigns

Already have a website? I can bring it up to date.

Sites built a few years ago were made for smaller screens, slower connections and older rules. I keep what still works and rebuild the rest.

  1. Big photos of your own work
  2. Puts a face to the name
  3. Quote button always in view

  3. 3Same address, old pages redirectedOld pages point to their new addresses, which protects your place on Google as far as anyone can.

Same prices as a new site: £595, £950 or £1,750, with your words and photos moved across and your old pages redirected to protect your Google rankings. Sites on WordPress, Wix or Squarespace are all fine.

A note from Patryk.

Hi, I’m Patryk.

I work from Cranbrook, ten minutes from Exeter. Every site is designed, built and launched by me, so there is no agency in the middle and nobody to hand you over to.

The person you speak to on the first call is the one who hands you the logins. You get a fixed price before I start, a site that is usually live in about two weeks, and the same person answering six months later.

Speak soon,

The questions people actually ask.

Plain answers. If yours is not here, ask me and you will have an answer the same working day.

Ask a question
Why choose a local web designer over an Exeter agency?

Agencies suit big projects. For a small business website you mostly need it done properly, quickly and at a fixed price, and to speak to the web designer doing the work. That is the point of working with me: one person, ten minutes from Exeter, from the first call to the day it goes live.

Do you only do web design in Exeter?

No. I build websites for businesses across Exeter and East Devon, including Cranbrook, Exmouth, Honiton, Ottery St Mary and Cullompton, and the villages around them.

Can I edit the site myself?

Yes. Every site comes with a simple editor. Go to your site’s /edit page, sign in with a code sent to your email, and change text, photos, buttons and sections, or hide a seasonal offer. You can’t break the design, and every version is kept, so any change can be undone. For bigger changes, message me.

What if I do not like what you make?

Then you do not pay for it. You see a working first version within seven working days of sending your photos and notes. If it is not what you hoped for, tell me within seven days of seeing it and I refund your deposit in full within 14 days; the unfinished design is not handed over. After that, the second half is only due when you are happy for the site to go live.

What if I do not want a care plan?

Then do not take one. The site is yours and it keeps working, hosting costs you nothing (if that ever changes, or I stop trading, you get three months’ notice and I move the site to your own accounts free), and you have the editor for everyday changes. There is no fee to leave. Anything bigger is £50 an hour, billed in 15-minute blocks, as and when you need it.

Who owns the site and the domain?

You do. The domain is registered in your name and your business details, not mine, and you get its login. The site itself runs on my Cloudflare and GitHub accounts, at no cost to you, with every version saved. If you ever want to leave, I move it to your own accounts or send you every file. It is plain HTML, so it runs on any host, with no platform to export it from. The contact form sends through my own form service, and if you leave I help you switch it to one of yours, so enquiries keep arriving. Nothing is held hostage.

Can you redesign my existing site?

Yes, at the same prices as a new site: £595, £950 or £1,750, depending on how many pages you need. I keep what still works, move your words and photos across, and point the pages Google already knows about to their new addresses, which protects the rankings you have built up as far as anyone can. Google decides rankings, so nobody can promise them. That includes sites on WordPress, Wix or Squarespace.

Why is this more than a £99 website?

Many £99 sites are templates on a platform you rent. Stop paying and they disappear, and the domain is often not in your name. Mine is built for your business, written around the work you actually do, and it stays yours. You pay once and own it.

How long does it take?

About two weeks for a five page site, once you have sent me your photos. One page sites are usually a week. I give you the live date on the first call and I hold to it. If I miss it, you get £100 off for each week or part week it is late, as long as your photos and words reach me by the date we agree.

How does payment work?

Half when we start, half when you are happy for the site to go live. Bank transfer, and a proper invoice for your books. The price agreed on the first call is the price on the invoice, with no VAT to add, because I am not VAT registered.

Do you reward referrals?

Yes. If you send someone my way and they go ahead, I send you £100 as a thank you once their site is live. If you recommend me in public, for example in a local Facebook group, please mention that you get a thank-you for it, as the rules on reviews require.

Ready when you are.

Tell me what the business does. You get a fixed price and a live date in the first conversation, before any work starts.

Available now. You speak directly to the person building your site.
